AAT Level 1 Award in Bookkeeping

The AAT Level 1 focuses on students learning to develop their skills online in basic accounting principles that enable them to complete bookkeeping tasks in an accounting environment. The qualification will give an introductory look at financial data and business risk if the accounts are not prepared correctly.

The qualification will teach students the essentials of bookkeeping and accounting knowledge, giving a better understanding of the accounting function within business.

Bookkeeping Fundamentals Unit:

• Understand the role of the bookkeeper
• Understand financial transactions
• Process customer and supplier transactions
• Process receipts and payments
• Understand the benefits and risks of using accounting software

On successful completion you progress on to either the AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting or the AAT Level 2 Certificate in Bookkeeping.

The AAT Level 1 Award in Bookkeeping requires you to pass one 90-minute computer-based assessment. This exam covers all the learning outcomes from the Bookkeeping Fundamentals unit. Throughout your studies you will be supported by your tutor.

You can sit the computer based exam from home via remote invigilation or at an AAT-approved test centre. To sit the exam, you must pay a one-off registration fee to become an AAT student member. The student registration fee and assessment fees are not included in the course fees.

If you wish to sit the assessment remotely, the assessment fee is paid to e-Careers when the exam is booked. Likewise, if you prefer to sit it at your local assessment centre, they will require payment when the assessment is booked.

AAT membership is paid directly to AAT or can be paid to e-Careers at enrolment.
