IOSH Working Safely - Virtual Classroom

The IOSH Working Safely course material is divided into four units, which introduce working safely, define hazards and risks, identify common hazards, and improve safety performance.

Introducing working safely

This unit focuses on introducing managing safely, the basic principles of working safely, and key terms relating to health and safety.

Defining hazards and risks

In this unit, you will learn about workplace hazards and risks, discover effective risk controls in the workplace, and understand risk assessment and its importance.

Identifying common hazards

Through this unit, you'll identify the most common hazards in the workplace, discover essential safety signs and signals, and learn the precautions and preventative measures you can take to create a safe working environment for you and your colleagues.

Improving safety performance

In your final unit, you'll learn what a health and safety management system is (Plan - Do - Check - Act) and discover effective emergency procedures and accident plans staff must be aware of should an incident occur.

You'll explore the consequences staff and businesses will face for not complying with the correct health and safety regulations.

You will also learn about the incident reporting process and who to report if there's an incident or health and safety accident. Finally, you'll be trained in assessing risks daily and practical workplace safety applications.

Once you have completed your ISOH Working Safely training course, you can proceed to more advanced IOSH courses like the IOSH Managing Safely, which will help you expand your knowledge and skill set and advance your health and safety career.

This training course includes a two-part exam: a multiple-choice exam and a hazard assessment.

• Exam Format - Multiple-choice.
• Duration - 30 minutes.
• Multiple-choice question paper pass mark: 20 out of 33 (60%).
• Hazard Spotting Exercise: 11 from 16 points (68.75%).

Hazard Spotting Exercise

After completing the examination, you will take a short hazard assessment.

The IOSH Working Safely Hazard Spotting Exercise will help you demonstrate your ability to spot potential hazards. This part of the assessment is online, and you must score 11 points from a possible 16 points to pass.

Completing both parts of the exam will award you the IOSH Working Safely certification. Two attempts at each exam are included in this course package.

This is an entry-level course, which means that no prerequisites are required. You can take this certification regardless of your level and industry. However, some basic requirements must be considered for easy learning, including:
