You've completed your CeMAP course, you've booked your exam... and now the hard work starts - it's revision time! But, have no fear, we've put together a list of our top 6 techniques below, to help you prepare for your exam more effectively.
Are you training as part of a plan to change careers? Here’s some Career Advice articles to help you get started:
Exam revision can look daunting when you first start. You may find it easier to separate the course into sections and revise one at a time.
Don't forget to give your mind a break every hour or so! Trying to revise for too long will just leave you feeling tired and frustrated. Get up, stretch your legs and do something to clear your mind for 30 minutes or so, such as:
You may find it helpful to make yourself a revision timetable to help you make the most of your revision time.

You know that part of the syllabus that gives you a cold sweat just thinking about it? Resist the urge to scream and start revising that first - it might be tough at first, but at least it won't be hanging over you come exam day.
Just like finding the ideal housing area (see what we did there?) finding the right spot to revise is vitally important.
Sit yourself in a nice, quiet area away from distractions, preferably at a desk or table. Try to revise in the same place at similar times, as routine can really help to get your mind in gear. Some people also find that some music in the background helps them to focus.

Making notes on key topics can be a handy way of memorising them, plus you can use your notes as a crib sheet for reading before the exam. You could even leave a section for the hardest/most important facts so that you can find them all in one place.
Jotting facts on to flash cards and using them to test yourself may be time consuming, but this can be a great way of making sure you know the basics.
If you don't take care of your physical wellbeing, your mind won't be working at full capacity either.
Although it can be tempting to live off takeway during revision time, trying to eat a balanced diet will do far more for your energy levels. Slow release foods - especially wholegrains - are particularly good for keeping your energy levels up. Similarly, remember to drink plenty of water and limit your intake of caffeine, which can affect your concentration.
Getting a sleep-deprived brain to memorise complex financial techniques is about as fun as it sounds, so aim to get 7-9 hours of shut-eye per night. Make your room nice and dark, and avoid looking at LED screens (yes, that includes your smartphone) before bed to get the best quality ZZZs.
Finally, slot in some time to do some physical exercise. Not only will it keep you feeling healthy, playing sport, hitting the gym or going for a jog can be a great way to clear your mind and de-stress.
