Mino Raiola has Transfer Ban Lifted!

Mino Raiola’s transfer ban has been lifted by FIFA, meaning he is free to conduct transfers for his clients around the world.

The Italian-born Agent was due to carry out a three-month worldwide transfer ban which would see him miss the entirety of the summer transfer window in the Premier League.

Raiola was originally punished by the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) before FIFA decided to extend the sanctions worldwide. Reasons for the ban are undisclosed and rumours are rife but the global ban which was holding Raiola back is no longer an issue.

It was expected that the ban wouldn’t have much bearing on whether his clients moved to or from England’s top division – but now Raiola is free to facilitate the transfers himself; something which could prove helpful for Manchester United, and unhelpful at the same time.

The good side is that Mattias De Ligt, one of Raiola’s prized clients, is poised to leave Ajax for pastures new and the red half of Manchester is somewhere he’s linked with; the bad side is that Paul Pogba has voiced his intent to find a new challenge. Maybe a ploy to gain a more lucrative contract at his current club? Who knows?

The one thing we do know in the topsy-turvy world of football transfers is that Raiola will now be involved and looking to line his pockets, as well as those of his client. He’s quite good like that.

Raiola represented all three parties in the transfer which took Paul Pogba back to Manchester United from Juventus for a then-world record fee of £89million back in 2016. The transfer reportedly pocketed Raiola £22million, some of which he used to buy Al Capone’s former Miami villa.

This year, De Ligt and Pogba are two of the most highly sought-after properties. De Ligt has had yet another stellar season in Amsterdam, winning the Eredivisie, the KNVB Cup and narrowly missing out on a Champions League final place after a last-minute defeat to beaten finalists Tottenham in the semi-final. De Ligt and the rest of his Ajax teammates shone brightly throughout the tournament and he wants a bigger stage to perform on.

Pogba on the other hand has grown disgruntled at Man United; another year of Europa League football, fans getting increasingly impatient with the French midfielder after another year of hot and cold displays – 10 out of 10 and match winning at his brilliant best, but non-existent when not playing well.

Whatever happens, the summer is set to be a busy one for Raiola as he’ll be fielding several calls for his high-profile clients as a busy transfer season gets underway.
